Personal Goals For Police Officer

I have been working in the law enforcement field for approximately two years now. I am currently employed with the Cameron Country Sheriff’s Office as a patrol deputy. I began my law enforcement career by joining the Criminal Justice Institute Police Academy program at Texas Southmost College in 2012. I graduated March 2013 and began to work for American Investigation Security Company for one year, prior to my employment with the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office. Working as a full time patrol deputy has made me realize the importance of a higher education more than ever. Acquiring my degree in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Administration from the Colorado State University Global Campus will improve my professional and personal life in many ways. Becoming a Sheriff’s Deputy has always been a dream of mine since I was growing up. I have always seen myself helping the community that I grew up in. Acquiring a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Administration from the Colorado State University Global Campus will improve my chances of achieving my goals. There are many ladders to climb on the law enforcement field and having greater education would only open opportunities for myself. I see myself on the near future having a greater responsibility as a sergeant of patrol division. Having a degree from Colorado State University Global Campus can help me improve the chances of acquiring an investigative position with in my department achieving my long personal goal of investigating major crimes to help better serve and keeping the community safe. I work 40 hours every week with 2 days off. I work 8 hours a day and after that I have all of the time to study as needed. I have made a room in my apartment specifically to study time removing any type of distraction and making it a place of study. I just don’t have my own place to study but a library close by where I have done many research projects not just for the university but in my high school years. I have worked hard to create my own personal space that I feel comfortable enough to embark on this journey without the fear of any distractions. I have made the arrangements on my work place and my personal life in order for me to accommodate my studies and make them a priority in my life. I can honestly say that there are many situations that can change a person. There have been many situations where I have needed assistance not just in my line of work also in my personal life. One situation that always has stood out in my mind is enrolling into the university. I am familiar with computers and have been lucky to grown up around technology.
