Personal Narrative: A Place Called My Home

September 17, 2004 was the exact day I had left a place I called my home. There is no tragic scene to tell behind leaving the place I truly had loved. A place where I grew up, created unforgettable memories with my family around me, and the place where my origins flourished within me.

Two years prior to leaving, my father, an international businessman had received a great job opportunity across seas. His new offered occupation meant a new lifestyle for all of us and an opportunity for him to finally pursue the great all American Dream. My father was given something special that all Europeans envied and craved for. He was surrounded around hearing nothing but false rumors about the new place; but decided to take the challenge anyway and risk everything in order to experience the pursuit of greater happiness. I was faced with many strange and different situations but that did not stop me from experiencing new things in life. Moving to the United States not only gave me amazing experiences but also the endless amount of great opportunities. I have made unreplaceable friends and continue to meet more as the years go by. I am really glad and very proud of my parents who took the chance to settle in a foreign country because it does not seem like a simple task to do. Living in the United States helped me gain from my experiences and problems to shaping my beliefs and the person I am today. Some may believe that moving at such a young age does not really affect the child due to its age but I feel like I have been positively and negatively affected. I have grown into becoming a more open-minded person due to the situations I went through. It really has taught me to be more empathetic, understanding towards other, and actually view people from a different
