The nurses’ attitudes and passion gave me a great sensation of comfort as I knew my grandfather was in good hands. Serving others one of the best rewards that is possible to receive. Discharging a resident and receiving a simple “thank you” brings me immaculate joy. Nursing is much more than administering medicines, hanging intravenous fluids, the aching feet, and the struggles of nursing school. Nursing is holding the hands of new babies entering the world and holding the frail, aged hands of an elder leaving the world and providing the best care and comfort for those patients to the best of my ability. I am fully aware of the hardships of nursing although, I strongly believe that through struggle and hardships come achievements and success. Why do I want to become a nurse? I want to become a nurse to provide the same comfort, compassion and care as I observed the nurses that took care of my own loved one. Comfort is rare in our society today yet such a key component. I am highly inspired to be able to provide my patients with the best care and comfort to the best of my ability, whether it’s saving a patient’s life during a code or saying comforting words to the patient’s family. Ultimately, providing comfort and serving others is the best reward one can
