I spent those three months carrying a small picture of her around everywhere I went and sleeping in her pajamas every night. She got better and was able to come home. Since I slept with her every night, my family told me to make sure she did not take too many pills. We moved out of the house we lived in at that time and to a house where my room was right next to hers, so I stopped sleeping with her. I was about eight when we moved into the house we live in now. Firstly, people are unique individuals that deserve respect and equal treatment. They are in a vulnerable position when they come to the hospital as they are quite literally putting their lives in the hands of others. They deserve to be treated as unique individuals rather than an illness returning in someone else’s body. For example, if I treat a one person for a stomach ulcer and a second person with a stomach ulcer comes in, it does not mean that the second ulcer will require the same treatment as the first or that it developed due to the same reasons as the ulcer on the first person. Secondly, the environment is an essential element in the health of the people in the world. The environment is an everchanging thing that is affected by everybody on planet Earth. Humans and the environment are coexisting and affecting each other in both negative and positive manners. As the environment grows colder more people tend to catch colds, and the flu is typically prevalent in the winter months of the year. Alternatively, as the environment grows warmer, you typically see and hear of less people getting sick. Nurses alter or enhance the environment around their patients to help their patients get better (Department of Nursing, 2017).
