Personal Experience: My Interview With Gerald Bosch

Improved Essays
Alex Christians and I interviewed Gerald Bosch, this process was illuminating because I have not had much experience working with a group. I felt that our communication and organization was essential to our success. As for the work load, Alex put in more than his fair share of effort. He created the initial timeline, worked on his half of the attorney interview, creating questions and asking his questions to Mr. Bosch. Alex also wrote his half of the essay, did most of the editing, as well as worked on and presented part of the presentation. In all I felt that Alex did as he said he would do, as well as put in the necessary effort to get the job done. I felt that Alex’s greatest strength was communication and organization. He sent the first email, kept in contact throughout the process, and got a hold of me when concerns were present. As for organization, again he constructed the first outline and kept the times and dates straight. I honestly do not know where Alex could have improved, each of us did what we decided upon and did not have to do other work outside of that. I feel like both of us worked well enough to not raise many issues. In regards to myself, I did what I said what I going to, I contacted Mr. Bosch, prepared and asked my half of the interview questions, and I …show more content…
There are two parts to group work that I found to be incredibly important to success, which are, communication and organization. In regards to communication, being able to effectively lay out what we need to accomplish and what is left to accomplish is essential to a quick and painless process. I feel like Alex and I communicated quite effectively, making this project quite simple. As for organization, laying out the each sides goals is necessary to be able to fill a role. In all, as long as we communicated clearly what each side needed to do, I feel that each can fill their obligation without much

The author, Andrew Braaksma, wrote "Some lessons from the Assembly Line." Working in the factory was somewhat of a life changing event for Andrew. In his article, he mentions work conditions, how his fellow employees felt and what he learned while attending school during his employment at the factory. Andrew’s goal was to go into detail of how poor the conditions were at the factory. He spoke of the “sweltering production floor”.…

During this interview, I sat behind the counter of the store that I have been in countless times. It was a busy night, so I was able to see what Ash does for a living and how he interacts with different customers. It really stuck out to me how he was friendly to everyone who walked in the store and how he has adapted to the dialect and language here. For example, when a Hispanic customer would come in, he would speak a little Spanish to them, even if the person spoke English.…

On May 2nd, my group performed a story of Julio, from the book Underground America: Narratives of Undocumented Lives edited by Peter Orner. We then received feedback from our professor and other students about what we need to improve on. Since then, we have brainstormed ways to make our performance more effective. On May 18th, my class will combine our performances to create one long performance with our improved performance opening the piece. I will discuss how it was like working with a group, and My group worked well together, despite a few hiccups.…

First, what worked well was how our group integrated our individual skills together to complete the project. When we introduced ourselves and what our concentrations were, it was easy to determine what roles and responsibilities we would take on. We worked individually on our tasks before meeting together and integrating everything into the final product. The problems that arose primarily concerned communication and scheduling group meetings.…

I asked them each the same five questions about what they thought about the gaps at our agency. I decided to ask the same questions, in order to get two different perspectives. I decided to interview the associate director, since she has been working there for over 20 years and knows everything there is to know about our agency. I also decided to interview the mid county social worker because she is very…

I feel as if the group project could have been done a lot better I felt as there was more of a focus on getting to know one another rather than focusing on the assessment. Currently I am not as confident on working with individuals that I don’t know so well as I was when we first started as I realized not everyone in the group had the same approach towards the task as I did especially in terms of prioritization despite this I believe I am more confident in showing leadership as Staci and Emily had other commitments I attempted to accommodate for this by contacting them and working out times when they were both free I believe this was a positive thing as normally in group assessments I have a tendency to rely on other people to make decisions like this and it was a positive experience delegating rather than receiving tasks. Overall working with Staci and Emily was fine as I have a more passive personality in group assignments it was a good learning experience for me a study has also shown that working as group positively influences and facilitates an exchange of knowledge(Shaw, Mitchell and Del Fabbro, 2015) this definitely occurred during our group work when it came to elaborating on social determinants I was able to help both Staci and Emily better understand them while Staci assisted me in learning about the stream factors overall I believe we compensated very well for each other’s gaps of knowledge . On the other side of the spectrum our fourth member Louis was difficult to work with as he contacted us the weekend before the assignment was actually ready to present and this caused a lot of stress and panic, after talking to Emily and Staci they definitely felt the same way about the situation with…

In my two quarters taking this studio, not only have I learned technical skills, I have also learned how to interact with groups better, give a professional presentation, and deliver my ideas to a client. After initially reading the Geography of Nowhere, I felt much more confident in my understanding of why buildings and structures are built where they are in present day America. Coming from the geography department to this class, it was slightly surprising that I had never come across this book in either my social or physical geography classes. Kunstler does a great job of explaining the history of planning, zoning and the general built environment that went into creating modern day United States of America. Although I had taken Introduction…

The team of four that I decided to work with were Abby R, Ben, and Emily T. Overall, I liked my choice of group members. We all got along pretty well with each other, and it helped that I knew Abby and Ben on a personal level. This allowed us to get together at each other’s houses, and work together on the project. This allowed for a much easier collaborative environment, and it also allowed us to collaborate on everything together, instead of one person being assigned one part, and the other person another. I feel like this was a much easier way of creating the presentation, rather than having everybody independent of each other.…

Synopsis Having just completed an MBA, George decided to join ABC Consulting over a Big 4 firm as he felt that the former could offer what he was seeking in a long-term career – work-life balance, a dynamic environment with less office politics, and interesting projects where he could exercise his creativity. He also felt that he would have no problem meeting the requirements of the 3-month probation to be eligible for the company’s bonus system. George approached his first project with enthusiasm, but was quickly taken aback by the fast pace at which his project and client managers were able to analyze the data and voice their opinions. George was unable to contribute during the discussion and thought instead to impress by detailing his ideas…

You could say we went through the “forming” and “storming” stages of group work that semester. Second semester, after we had an opportunity to analyze each other’s strengths, we were able to work much more efficiently. We evolved into a united group with common goals, and this evolution is reflected in the deliverables we created in 732 to 752. We learned a lot about the questions to ask when designating roles on a project and paying attention to identify these strengths. We also learned about our own strengths in the process.…

Reflection Paper II Throughout my college experience here in the Carroll School of Management, group work and the ability to work well with others has been emphasized greatly. This makes sense, because in a professional environment, the ability to communicate, listen and contribute within a group leads to success and the achievement of goals. However, none have gone on as long as this project, making it a more realistic example of working on a team. Junior year of college is definitely a crazy time, as we are forced to balance heavy workloads with extracurriculars and recruiting.…

In fact, my group members were very helpful and whenever one of us had trouble with something we would all participate in solving her problem or giving her helpful tips to solve it. By helping, supporting and motivating each other it made the project easier to solve and it helped us in achieving our work in the most effective time and ways. Here are some points I loved about the experience, firstly being a part of a group helped in developing my skills and we were able to achieve more work than in working individually. Secondly, we had more time to manage and plan. Thirdly I developed more communicating skills and team commitment and also I had more exchange of information between myself and our group members.…
