Personal Experience: Client System Technician

Antwain,
I enjoyed reading your forum post. I was previously assigned to Hickam AFB and spent just 3 years there and transitioned to Langley AFB, Virginia. I used to go bowl a lot at the Fort Shafter’s bowling alley since it was near my home near Ala Moana shopping center. I want to congratulate in advance for your new addition in family in the next few months. My wife and I planning to have our first child hopefully around next year. I think your MOS sounds a lot similar to my job in the Air Force which is called client systems technician. We also deal with providing customer support, troubleshooting, and configuring software and hardware equipment. Did Army recently required folks to obtain Security plus certification for DoD compliance?

Soldiers in the 35P Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) face many challenges as the progress through their language school and Advanced Individual Training (AIT). They spend six to 18 months focusing all their attention on learning a second language at an accelerated pace and when they have accomplished that daunting task they are sent to Goodfellow Air Force Base to learn the technical aspect of their MOS, usually another three or four months of training. By the time a 35P Soldier arrives at their first duty assignment they have two or more years of service. They have received extensive training in language and technical aspects of their job, but they have received little, if any, tactical training pertaining to their jobs. For those Soldiers assigned to a FORSCOM unit, the lack of tactical training has posed a problem for tactical unit commanders and they demand a fix.…

Looking over everyone’s names and once again looks like old home week. Think I have had prior courses with almost everyone here. This is my eighth Cybersecurity master course and will complete my degree next year. I am currently working at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma for the DISA “Defense Information Systems Agency” as a Solaris system administrator. I have been doing this type of work for almost twenty years, even before retiring from twenty years active duty in the US Navy as a CTM1 “Cryptologic Technician Maintenance” first class petty officer.…

Cyber System Operations install and support systems to ensure they operate properly and remain secure from outside intrusion. They also create systems and programs to give the military an advantage in Cyber technology. This is something I want to do because I think it's really cool that you get to create programs and hacks improve the United States cyber operations. Skills wise I have none, but I could learn from my dad or from the "Cyber Systems Operations Initial Skills" course. When I retire from the Air Force I can either create tools for the U.S. government to use or teach civilians to do…

I am writing you about the two team members – Myha Co and Simone Ingraham-Gray of QSR Systems Support team. Myha and Simone are admin assistants and they are currently in one of the job classifications that do not require a personal vehicle. My team’s primary role is to offer CPIN support to staff. Until September 2015, the CPIN support was offered by several CPIN trainers as well as CPIN peer-coaches. In September 2015, the CPIN support offered by the trainers and the coaches was withdrawn and the QSR System support team became the only entity in charge with offering CPIN support to staff.…

I am a C-130 Pilot and currently serve as the Operations Support Squadron Director of Operations for our Operation Group. I serve as an Air Reserve Technician in a Reserve Airlift Wing. As a C-130 guy my career field fits into the narrative in a few ways. One way is that we directly receive ATO and fly them within the confines of various restrictions. Having a good knowledge of the Combined Air Operations Center, it’s duties and the four divisions helps me to provide feedback. The feedback we provide helps in the overall assessment of the operations, which is one way my career field fits into the narrative.…

Formal or Informal Assignment: Since the 1C5 Career Field Manager is not releasing any MSgts from the career field this year you should continue to pursue your near-term goal of becoming the AWDC Superintendent at Nellis AFB. You are an AWDC graduate and your time in the control and reporting center over these past few years has armed you with the knowledge, experience, and credibility to successfully lead the course to bigger and better things. This is a critical time for the AWDC because the syllabus is under review and the US Air Force Weapons School is considering a big transformation to a “Weapons Instructor Course.” This would provide current and future enlisted graduates with the same credibility and prestige as their officer counterparts.…

I have a consistent record of success in adapting to change, providing focused leadership, and detailed management. The Air Force has provided me the opportunity to hold a wide range of positions in three different AFSCs. I believe I offer the skills and mindset that would be beneficial to the Defense Attaché Program. As a supervisor/manager with a broad-based background in aviation operations, deployment operations, and First Sergeant duties, I am able to accomplish the mission in a team setting or by working independently. During my 7 deployments I have gained a strong sense of teamwork and mission accomplishment that I believe would translate into a promising Defense Attaché assignment.…

The new technologies have integrated many sectors of combat system industries which needs a high level of qualification. Naomi Verdugo and Nehama E. Babin write in “The Impact of Advanced Technology on the U.S. Military”, that it is mandatory to adapt the skills of manpower to the requirements of new technologies. It will demand greater knowledge and more sophisticated skills than are presently. For instance, computer systems and networks remain advanced technology which is used now in the majority of telecommunication systems thus radically changing the profile of the users of these systems from soldiers to operators. This also will generate the need for skilled personnel in the maintenance sector because of the greater sophistication of new systems.…
