Section 34-30-57, Code of Ala. 1975, (1991) authorizes the Board to promulgate rules and regulations that set forth standards for licensed bachelor Social Workers, licensed master Social Workers, and independent clinical Social Workers. The Board has formally adopted the following standards of professional conduct and ethics including (1d) that states that the Social Worker shall act in accordance with the highest standards of professional integrity and impartiality (CHAPTER 850-X-9 STANDARDS of PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT & ETHICS). The word integrity is a very profound word. Integrity can be used in many different aspects such as: morally, intellectually, and philosophically. In terms of morality, integrity is the act of honesty and upholding strong moral principles. This refers to one’s ability to handle situations in a professional manner and according to protocol. In a work setting, this means that you perform all actions according to policy and procedures while doing all that is required to handle the case at hand. According to …show more content…
It will help them reflect on integrity and how essential it is in the social work field. Although many students that are striving to begin their career as Social Workers have integrity, there are always those that will skate though doing the bare minimum. This paper emphasizes how important integrity is and will hopefully make the students that lack this basic character trait rethink their career goals. Although this may not be effective in preventing those with lack of character from entering the field, we can still make the difference in keeping a watchful eye in our workplaces. As long as those of us who stay true to the Code of Ethics are around watching and reporting, those that disgrace the field can be reported and removed. Social work is a field that is essential in society and we cannot let those who do not truly care ruin the integrity of our entire
