A racist was once an innocent child brought up to hate others simply for the different lifestyle others lead instead of embracing the variety uniqueness we all have. Racism must be fought. We must never bow down to such calls.
I believe that those who spur hatreds are those who forget that beneath the skins, we are all human beings with feelings.
I believe that an inclusive and tolerant society will only be achievable when despite the fact that you and I don’t share mutual opinions, we are still able to care for one another on humanitarian grounds. This quality needs to be nurtured at a young age.
I believe that children are the greatest example of pure innocence. As the ones grooming them, we must teach them to appreciate their culture and beliefs but also, not forget to teach them to understand that the world is home to so many others too and thus, they must respect the differences we share.
Let them explore the joy of befriending people of the world. While they may be curious about why John’s skin is fairer than Kumar or why Wong Mei Choo has slanted eyes, they know better not to let those issues come in the way of the adventures of playing hide and seek and giving each other silly nicknames and of course, battling in the eraser
