From the day we are born, until the day we die, we are taught and held responsible for being responsible of ourselves. We must consider this unwritten, but ever so powerful code that applies to our daily lives and interactions at all times. We need to do what is right and take action even when no one is looking. As students, parents, children, teachers, friends, and family, we all must maintain a personal responsibility of ourselves as we serve the community we are part of.

Rules and laws are in place in all aspects of our lives to protect us and the people around us. Without these rules and laws there would be no order or peace in the world. This includes everything from a Class A Felony all the way down to a schools policy about tobacco use. We don 't always agree, and we may not always abide, but thats human nature. If we see a problem, we need to report it for the safety of ourselves and the people around us. Luckily the fire that was set at Lackey burned out. I saw the fire and didn 't report it to the school and that was wrong. If it would 've taken off and caught the tree on fire, or the building, or someones vehicle, extensive damage could 've been done. Me being a bystander to that problem would’ve come back on me. I’m lucky considering that none of that took place. In the future I will report anything dangerous or not allowed to the school or campus police for the communities

One point in Malcolm Gladwell’s book that stood out to me was when he talked about the artist in Paris in 1860 and how they didn’t conform, which I think you shouldn’t. He quoted historian Sue Roe when she wrote, “works were expected to be microscopically accurate, properly ‘finished’ and formally framed, with proper perspective and all the familiar artistic conventions (pg. 66),” but the artists he wrote about didn’t follow those rules. His book is about underdogs but, when he wrote about the artists and how they were painting different than what was liked back then, I thought it was more about how the underdogs of the time didn’t conform to society. He wrote, “the Impressionists had an entirely different idea about what constituted art.…

When it comes to the topic of laws, most of us will readily agree that breaking the laws is unjust. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of if there is ever a time when a law can acceptably be broken. Socrates and Antigone would agree with the statement that disobeying laws is never the answer. Likewise, I have always believed that breaking the laws should be punishable and should never be done.…
