Personal Essay: The Effects Of Speeding

The effects of speed on public highways can be lethal to yourself and to others. By speeding you put everyone around you in danger because that when you go over the speed limit your lowering the amount of time that you will have to react to a situation such as heavy braking or cars that are traveling slower than you are. Speeding is not even good for your car, by speeding everywhere you could make all those miles driven on your car a lot rougher. You will also lose money by speeding everywhere because you will have to visit gas stations more frequently because your gas will go down quicker the higher the speed you are driving. If speed limits were not in effect then the percentage of daily car accidents would greatly increase. The speed limit is there for a reason and it is not to be broken, that is why it is enforced so strictly. Each year hundreds of thousands of people die in car accidents, many of which involve people who were not obeying the laws and driving over the speed limit and putting everyone around them in danger. This is a serious matter and all people should be taking speed limits more seriously, or it could get them killed.

I believe that I have learned my lesson on speeding. I understand now how much I am really risking to just get where I want to go a little faster or to have a good time for just a little while, I have now come to realize that it just isn?t worth it. I have seen what speeding can do to people, I have witnessed car accidents that involved people I had seen speeding down the highway past me. The accidents did not look fatal but I?m sure that someone in that accident now realizes that it is not such a good
