I would call him to see where he was, and the response I would get was “I have one more customer I need to sell a car to, I’ll be home soon. I love you, baby girl.” And of course I believed him and went about my business. But at that moment I didn’t realize that soon would mean the next day when I’m watching Rocket Power and eating my Frosted Flakes. It really sucked because before he used to help me do my math homework at night and after play a round of NASCAR on the PlayStation. As a result, I was stuck watching the Lifetime channel or The Oprah Show with my mom every night. I never really realized how boring that lady was until I had to watch her every day. Don’t get me wrong, she is an amazing person, but for a seven year old playing a video game would be way more entertaining. But in the end I had to suck it up I didn’t have the option because my father was at work. Sometimes …show more content…
The weekend trips started happening again, but the only downside was that it meant more play dates with his girlfriends. They just didn’t seem to rub me the right way anymore, even though I still took their gifts and compliments with a smile. I put them on the same level as I put my father, which was the “I’ll make you relevant when it feels real” level. To this day my relationship with my father has really strengthened, but now my level for trust with others isn’t where it should be. I feel like someone is always going to give me the run around, and there’s always going to be a secret. And that in the end I will in some way look stupid and confused, like that day when I was told something that changed my life. Let’s just say I don’t have a lot of best friends at the moment. The only one I’m hoping to gain back is that guy called my

My grades were slipping, I was insecure about myself, and I didn’t have too many friends that went to my school. When I first received my Xbox when I was nine I played games for the joy of them, but as I aged just playing video games became a mundane task for me, I needed something new to do with my video game collection. To fix this problem I layed out all of the games that I owned, which were about twenty. I ordered them from most fun to least fun and made a plan to beat by the end of my fifth grade summer. I started off by playing Lego Stars the complete saga. Beating this game came as a true challenge to me because until this time in my life I never had the mindset to complete the game, only to play the game until I became bored of it and I had no intention of beating it, just enjoying it.…

Teachers would call me most of the time to read and I hated that. I hated it because I would stutter to read and I was scared that people would laugh at me and that scene from Billy Madison when Adam Sandler said, “Ttt-today junior!” would play in the back of my mind. Playing video games helped me a lot and I think it would help a lot of children and students that have trouble with words. In my household Spanish was the main spoken language and I would speak English at school, grocery store and at the mall. It’s not a very common text when you play video games, but most video games have text that you have to read and sometimes when you’re looking for cheat codes you have to know what to type.…

I didn’t honestly know what the internet was. I slept through keyboarding thinking computers were for rich people, so I didn’t know how to type. I asked my friends at school what to do, most thought I was an idiot. I knew how to use things like Microsoft Office, and how to navigate the school’s website, but I didn’t know why people could ever find that fun. I felt ripped off getting a laptop as my only Christmas and birthday present for that year.…

College Tribes vs. High School Tribes; Are they the same? We all remember those “tribes” we were part of in high school, we mostly saw them during lunch. The prep or popular kids, those were usually the ones with money and would complain about how daddy didn’t buy them the new I phone. The jocks, those were the loudest ones, wearing their jersey not only to show school pride, but to let everyone know who they were. The Week Of Surprises One week in July was my best week, well was supposed to be the best week. I was 7 years old and still curious about the world, but on on July 5th when my mom walked into my room and yelled, “ Let's go!
