At the time my grandfather was ailing with Alzheimer and my weekends were spent helping my mom take care of him. It was hard to watch the strong man I grew up with growing weaker with each weekend; this experience influenced me to pursue a research career in neuroscience with the hopes of one day doing brain research to help others. Therefore, while I am here at UCI I hope to participate in labs on campus with professors doing research in biology and chemistry. I plan to work hard and finish with high marks and earn a degree in neuroscience. I would like to network with people interested in science careers around campus and plan to apply for different organizations to become more involved. It is also a goal of mine to minor in Spanish while I am here to fluently communicate and help people in underprivileged areas of central America. It is my belief that if I do these things I will gain the experiences needed to confidently apply to graduate school and achieve my career
