To be truly happy one needs to look at all of what life has to offer and decided what they want out of it and not what others tell them they want. Personally, I view life as a series of experiences, some good some bad, but I view all these experiences as new opportunities to learn and grow.

I honestly feel as though it is better for me to have the broad goal of helping to create a sustainable environment then for me to have the very specific goal of in 30 years “I want everyone to drive hydrogen powered cars,” because what if that doesn’t happen. Would my life be a failure? No not at all, because what if I choose to do something different, but something that still has a positive effect on the Earth’s environment. In that case I would absolutely consider my life a success. Or what if I follow my current passion of helping to create a sustainable environment but through new experiences and I develop new passions that I choose to follow. Would my life still be considered a success? Once again, most definitely. For myself the most important thing is to do what makes me happy and whatever that may be as long I am constantly learning and growing then I will be able to consider my life a

It seems that at some point in our lives, we are taken over by some force, and are tricked into feeling like our desires, our destinies, whatever they may be, have fallen out of reach. Are dreams just a phase that you grow out of after childhood, are they for motivational use, to help us hold on to our sanity when we face each new day, or are they something more? It takes courage to leave behind whatever will slow you down and seek personal happiness. At times we stop listening to that quiet, benevolent voice inside all of us, and sometimes people neglect it altogether when they most need guidance and direction. Siddhartha stirred up my emotions, reinforced a philosophy that I live by, and made me want to rethink my life's goals.…

In fact, the philosopher Epicurus is convinced that pleasure, the alpha and omega of happiness, can only be achieved in the absence of pain and turmoil. The main reason why I think that HACC is the best choice for me is because of the cost. The rates per credit are around $250 and that is for in-state residents. The total cost for a commuter would be around $13,750 for a student who is full time, which means they are taking 12 credits per term (Stager). This price of $13,750 includes the price of books, supplies, food, and transportation and it is an average price for all HACC students (HACC.edu). I think that I could easily cut some of the cost by trying to buy my books online for a cheaper price or even eating at home to save a lot of money.…

Life experiences change us as people and these experiences can affect our lives both positively and negatively. They teach us lessons that provide wisdom that cannot be obtained in a classroom. However, these lessons can be difficult to grasp at the time they are experienced as it may be through death or harassment. While joyful events can teach us many things, it is the crisis that mainly brings knowledge, especially of how to remain strong in the absence of positivity. Life experiences can also determine our perspective and outlook on life, essentially forming our individual personalities.…

When I think of my personal happiness I think of myself living a pleasing life, having a career with a great income, being wealthy and teaching my kids the right way to do something and not the wrong. Being nice and considerate of other people will take you a long way in life. But everyone’s definition of happiness does not consist of the same thing. Someone else’s definition of happiness could be to grow old with their significant other and move far away to a secluded, private island drinking mimosas all-day. Other people dream of becoming a big rap star, pop artist or dancer and going on tour with millions of fans screaming their name.…
