I, Lauren Beall, was born and raised on Galveston Island, founded by the pirate, Jean Lafitte. I have grown up in the same house with my parents almost my whole life, along with my animals too. Many people don 't truly know my story and might not believe it if I told them. Everything that has occurred in my life has shaped me into the person I am today.
My street consists of a few family members and the family business. Being an only child, I would always go across the street to spend time with my cousins or accompany my great-grandfather and watch old cable shows with him. Everything started to become darker and the world as I knew it just wasn 't the same anymore. At a young age, I learned the side effects of alcohol. I would never know what time of the night my father would return home if he was going to. Arguments became part of the daily routine with him. I eventually just learned to agree to whatever he said and just keep my head down as much as I …show more content…
As time progressed, picking up on people 's moods became easy. Every day differed. Sometimes he would be in the best mood, but most of the time he wasn 't.
Things began to slow down after many years. He began to go out less and his behavior started to turn upside down. Maybe it was from being caught or maybe it was a change in mindset. It started to feel like a family. Yes, there are still moments but that 's not what 's important. Through this I learned that things really can change in the blink of an eye and thing do get better. Also, to treat everyone in the best way possible because it 's not noticeable what they are going through and they can be faking a smile.
Through everything in life, I have learned many things that have made me the friendly, outgoing, strong person I am today. I must give credit to all my family and friends who have been with me along the way because that is how I am the person I am
