Personal Essay: My Experience Of Moving To Ohio

Improved Essays
The first move was very rough for me, just the thought of moving away from everything I had ever known. I mean really from the restaurants I ate, people I knew, all the way down to the very streets. I sure would miss it all of it. It took me a long time to know even how to get around this city, aswell it took me an even longer time to know the dang state. So now I have to learn an entirely new place. I mean this was everything I ever known growing up, and now having to learn an entirely new city and state. Although it might just be that it may be easier, since I am a bit older, so I might come to even better understanding of my surroundings. So we decided to move to Ohio, so we were staying in a camper in Logan, Ohio till we had found a house to move into.

It was different living in the camper we had no internet, no cable, and it was quite secluded. You could almost say we were camping, but it was not horrible it was just very secluded. Granted we were only five miles away from town, just that it sure did feel like we out in the middle of nowhere. I got to read a lot of my books and take quiet walks it was very peaceful.

At the time I had really wished I had my bike with me because it would have been really awesome, just to ride my bike down the hill and on those dirt trails around the whole place. Maybe even speed down that huge hill

We had finally found a house after two or three months. So when we had decided to go look at it. When we got there I was quite surprised how small it was compared to our old one. So once we agreed on getting the house we were getting, We started moving some of our belongings that we had into it. We still had a lot of our belongings to get from our old house so, for now, my Mom and I stayed at our new house, while Dad was getting some of our belongings from our old house. A universal theme for me moving from Texas to California is overcoming. I was 8 years old when my family moved, and had to overcome knowing no one, a new school, and being out of my comfort zone. At this age you tend to start making good friends, all hang out in groups, and be less adventurous. My parents kept saying, “Find people who like the same things as you, and everything else will be easy”. The next week I did just that.…

Moving didn't bother me much, but when I was told we were moving to Oklahoma I was shocked to say the least. I was shocked because I lived in California at the time and I had only ever moved to a different city at most.…

The move was a bum for me because moving cities meant making new friends and that was something I definitely wasn't okay with. People would say,"You're going to get killed in Salinas" and for a moment I fell for it, so of course freaking out was my first instinct. Now that I've been in Salinas for three years going to four I'm getting used to living here. This community motivates me so much, more motivation than the one given in San Jose. While we lived in San Jose my brother and I had no idea of where we wanted to go to college or if we even wanted to go to college.…

When people realize they have to leave everything they have known, loved and cared for twelve thousand miles away from them the impact is so great. Some people think it was easy for me to move from Australia to America, but really it is difficult to forget about. When someone moves from one house to another they don’t usually leave the country where their family, friends and memories are. As for me, in 2011 my family and I traveled to the United States to look for a house to live in. My dad was offered a new job but the catch was that we had to move.…
