Personal Essay: My Experience At Mitty High School

Everyone I have met at Mitty has inspired me to want to attend myself. Since my brother is a Mitty student, I have gotten to witness firsthand how much he enjoys Mitty. When I was a guest to Kristen Voelker, I was delighted to have that viewpoint validated, as it was very obvious she enjoyed her time at Mitty. Throughout that day, I was greeted by many people, freshmen, and seniors alike, and all were friendly. The positivity just broadened my favourable view of Archbishop Mitty High School.
I also know that Mitty can offer me a lot in the athletics department. During the guest program, I had the opportunity to meet the varsity volleyball coach, both as a math teacher and as a coach. At the Open House, I had a chance to meet him again. I was also introduced to Ellen Veargason, a freshman on the varsity team towering at 6’1. She gave me so much hope that I could make the varsity as a freshman too! Coach Almazan-Cezar was so knowledgeable about math and volleyball, which amazed me. This past summer at I AM Camp, I had the opportunity to meet Rachel Williams; a former AMHS student who loves volleyball just as much as I do. I got to follow her around Stanford’s campus, and I was amazed at how much she had achieved through Mitty. She is so

I play the flute, sing, and love theater, both onstage and backstage. My high opinion of Mitty’s performing arts program was reinforced after speaking with the performing arts director Mr. Santana at the Open House, who was quite amiable and informative. I learned a lot about all the theater details that I wanted to know, proving how well Mitty staff know their subjects. My family and I have seen at least half a dozen performances, and they’re always stunning. When I picture myself onstage at Mitty, I see that level of professionalism, and I can’t wait for the real thing. The possibility that I might get a part in a Mitty production makes me strive to go to Mitty

"Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty and persistence" I have had many ups and downs over the course of my life thus far. One specific example of this took place during my freshman year of high school. When I started high school it was very challenging for me, partially due to the fact that; during this time, I was lazy, unmotivated and did not really take school seriously. This by far is one of my biggest regrets to this day. Who would ever think that not trying during my freshman year would continue to follow me throughout the course of my academic career.…

I could learn much, much, much more at Missouri Fine Arts Academy. The knowledge I hold is only a candle to the raging bonfire Missouri Fine Arts Academy represents. If I were accepted into Missouri Fine Arts Academy, I would learn so much more. I would grow as an actress and become an even better individual. I would appreciate if I were given the chance to go and learn more about something I love.…

The semester before my freshman year I applied to an early college high school; I knew that I was going to have more work than if I had went to the traditional high school, but I knew I could do it. At first I was doing well, but as time went on the work became more challenging and frequent eventually my grades fell and took my pride with it. I wanted to transfer to the traditional high school in my neighborhood, but changed my mind after a talk with one of my professors. She helped me to recognize that if I quit not only would I be throwing away the work that I did do, but I’d also be preventing myself from seeing what work I could do. I took that seed of information and turned it into a tree of motivation.…

Glen Este High School Athletic Boosters Scholarship During my freshmen year at Glen Este High School, I was a part of the volleyball team. From being involved in athletics, even though it was just for a year, I have learned valuable life lessons such as teamwork, confidence, and has promoted me to carry out an active lifestyle. First of all, from playing volleyball, I began to value teamwork since it taught me how to collaborate with a group of people working towards a common goal. This lesson I’ve learned has helped me in group work in my classes and in the various community service projects I participated in throughout high school. Secondly, I have grown self-confidence from pushing my potential by trying my hardest during my high…

Because my mind was already so set on this plan, it felt as though my options at this event were fairly limited. I saw no point in visiting the booths belonging to schools that were not on my “to-do list”. However, boredom and curiosity drew me to consider possibilities I had previously neglected—and now, though I have become more uncertain of what exactly will be the plot for the next decade or so, I can safely say that the future looks much brighter than it had before. In keeping with the decisions I had already made, I immediately looked for LSU’s and Northshore’s…

Even though freshman orientation this past weekend made me feel like I went to church camp, I liked meeting the other freshman that entering this new stage of life as well. Just knowing that 100+ others out there struggling along with me makes college a little bit more bearable. Just within the past week I’ve become pretty close with the other incoming freshman softball girls, and slowly becoming more involved with the older girls. In the Spring of last year, it was my Junior year, one of the most critical years in high school. It’s the year that colleges look at the most, also it was the year that I was in some of the most challenging classes. Mostly honors, a lot of homework, and tests to go along with it. Studying would take me until late at night, and even on weekends, all day long. When it’s the end of the term everyone checks their grades for their report cards, and progress reports.…

High school changes people. They express themselves, become opinionated, and they start to look at the world differently as they experience things they have never encountered before. A wise Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.” This quote is an excellent way to describe my experience in high school.…

The end of the day comes whether you have gotten up to do something productive or if you have simply remained inanimate while time moves around you. I have found that the present slips away while you are worrying about the future. We are constantly telling ourselves that if we just get through this, then everything after will be better. We forget to appreciate the moment while constantly reaching for a hypothetically more fulfilling life. Once we graduate high school, or get through a challenging class, or finish a workout, everything after will get easier.…
