It has always been my dream to become a dentist. My passion starts since the first time I went to a dental clinic to have a check up on my teeth. I was captivated by how calm and composed the dentist was at that time as he was fixing my teeth. He spoke soothing phrases such as ‘you’re a good girl’ and ‘you’re really good at taking care of your teeth’ to keep me comfortable and calm throughout the procedure. Since then, I have always been fascinated by this caring profession. I believe being a dentist will allow me to help more people to smile confidently in front of others. Firdaus Dental Clinic which is situated around my residential area and I realized that nowadays many people require dentures and braces to improve their appearance and help them in their daily lives. I want to help these people achieve a higher quality of life. From shadowing the dentist, I can affirm that dentist is a very interesting job because every day you need to deal with different kind of patients with varying cases. Dr. Firdaus is my role model. He told me his story about the chills he got when one day he returned home at night after working and heard his youngest child asking his wife ‘ Who is this person?’ in front of himself. Since then, his clinic only opens until evening and he said to me ‘What is the purpose of living if you cannot be with your beloved family?’ This story touched me deeply and inspired me to set a goal in mind – that is to open my own dental clinic! I became more spirited and I know, without a doubt, that I want to open my own dental clinic the same way he did. The most important thing that I learnt from this sport is that without any training and spirit to achieve something, we are actually losing before we even started. Based on my experience, I believe that success cannot be achieved without any goal in mind and that this is essential to become a successful individual. After I finished high school, I was selected to join the National Service Training. The activities involved a lot of community services, such as cleaning the roadside and also activities that help to improve life skills such as time management skills and leadership skills. My long-term goal is to open my very own dental clinic and of course these skills are a must to ensure smooth management of my clinic in the
