Personal Essay: My Career As A Nurse

When I look up “a nurse” on the internet, I will see something like “somebody who care for an ill person.” Thinking about nursing seems easy; however, I believe that there is way more to nursing than a simple definition. Being a nurse is a very influential and rewarding profession. Nurses will care for people through illness up the birth and health. They not only care for people through their illnesses, but they also help promote health and educate the public on disease prevention As we know nursing is a field that is based on helping people, yet I personally believe it is so much more than that. Becoming a Nurse, it is essential to be open, determined, thoughtful and caring towards all of those you are intended to help. Those qualities would …show more content…
In January, 2011, I had posterior spinal fusion. The nurse who took care of me and my family opened my eyes to the compassion of the medical field of nursing. She made me realize that the medical field needs more nurturing nurses like herself in order to make the patient and the patient’s family feel comfortable. I have found myself passionate about nursing and have started my career early through the Hermitage Technical Centers CNA/EMT programs. My surgery and my experiences in hospitals led me to the nursing field. It’s important to surround patients with a caring and loving environment for a quick recovery. My commitment at VCU, would build a solid foundation for my future, and allow graduate with experiences I will need to become a knowledgeable and compassionate nurse. I began with the CNA course at Hermitage Technical Center my junior year at Glen Allen High School. I have completed my clinical as a licensed CNA at Crump Park and Manor Care Nursing Facility. This year, I am completing the HTC registration of EMT to advance my knowledge and experiences. By the end of the year I, will be a certified CNA and EMT. I volunteer with Henrico Fire to observe first-hand what it’s like to be an EMT while I love the adrenalin rush of emergency calls, but I also desire to become a nurturing
