“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”- Benjamin Franklin. The Cape Henelopen trip would be a prodigious and beneficial experience for me to have because; when I get older I plan to become a neurologist or a veterinarian. And in the much nearer future, I plan on taking honors science and going to college for a degree in a science. Also at a younger age I went to Calvert Cliffs (Chesapeake Bay) to find fossils. To start off when I get older I plan on being a neurologist or a veterinarian, and to be a part of this experience would allow me to enhance my knowledge of the anatomy of the animals and as it says in the info packet we will be dissecting a perch or sunfish. It also states that we will collect any wildlife we can obtain within our limits. I will also be able to experience first-hand how quickly the animals we study will be to registering recognizing and reacting to fear (the fight or flight response.) I will also be able to see what it takes to trigger this reaction. And while there I will be able to see how the environment effects …show more content…
I will need this when I take honors science next year and in many other classes because the same principles apply. To add on I will learn more prospectively in science out there than I ever will in the three days I’m missing of the classroom setting, because as Benjamin Franklin said “tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” And as statistics show, you will be able to retain about seventy five percent of what you learned if you’re involved in the subject. What does it truly mean to be intellectual? Some may say that being intellectual means being book smart, while others say that it is being street smart. In an entry of “Hidden Intellectualism” by Gerald Graff, Graff believes that one can actually become intellectual if they start learning about topics they actually enjoy and then slowly start easing into challenging topics. While many argue that intellectualism is limited to the studies of school, non-academic activities such as traveling and truly experiencing these events can teach one about the history of a place, the culture, and how to solve problems. When asked why people decide travel they just say that they travel for vacation, but what they do not realize is that traveling is a learning experience.…

When contemplating what I wanted to achieve, looking back on my childhood, I had an assortment of animals such as, hamsters, rabbits, and dogs. Taking a look down memory lane, I can remember having a tenderness and yearning for animals from the past until now, I have nursed and taken care of animals for so long On the day I graduated high-school I was sure I wanted to become a veterinary technician. Caretaker for my animals, I have medicated and cared for them when they were ill, including hygiene such as clipping nails, cleaning ears, and bathing. Watching the animal planet, observing the technician and the veterinarian doing everything they could to save an animal’s life, inspired me to believe I can do the same thing. After graduating,…

Boating into in the Wellfleet Cove in Cape Cod, the first thing I noticed was how the towering sand dunes on the peninsula protected the still, glassy waters within it from wind. The cove was a sanctuary from my anxious life I led at home. My anxiety causes me to have to look at the future as an overwhelming heap of events with a variety of possible outcomes. I remind myself everyday to take things one step at a time so as not to get ahead of myself in a moment. But in the cove, I need not worry about the future because time ceases to exist there.…
