He said, “ going to college research, wife and kids”. I proceeded to ask him the next questions which were if he knew research was what he wanted to do in the beginning and why? He responded by explaining his curiosity as a child, how science provided a lack of doubt and acted as a type of positive reinforcement. When asked experiences in his past that were impactful on him, he mentioned growing up in a gang culture where lying was acceptable and you had to basically keep up the lie. He described discovering science as the truth. The truth that was the same for everyone. He explained that truth was less subjective, and made more sense. He also said as a student I should develop the skills and understand that it is a process. He also mentioned that I should seek to be efficient in all situations. He described it as trying to be productive in any situation.
I asked what advise he would give me to set me up for success. He said I should develop my leadership qualities. Learn to delegate to motivate and take the lead in being a facilitator. He also said I should never lie to myself. I should pay attention to the people who I surround myself with and realize that some people will be boosters and some people will be obstacles.
For me, I like Danny as he shares my ideals and beliefs. He believes that as people we have to be able to see things for our self.
