The Character Traits I Admire Most In My Life

Improved Essays
Throughout our lives we meet different types of people, each one with his own individual personality. The personalities of these people are built upon different character traits they possess. Some traits may include humility, selfishness, loyalty, and bluntness. Most of the time we surround ourselves with people who share similar traits. Everyone usually has one trait he values over the rest. The trait I admire most is benevolence. Someone who is benevolent is a person who will go out of his way for others because he cares so much. In my life, there has been a teacher, a friend, and a family member who have shown to me how one’s actions can be benevolent. Patricia Greene was my English teacher my senior year of high school. Mrs. Greene …show more content…
Mrs. Greene showed wonderful benevolence by spending many hours in and outside of class to make sure I understood the material and help me revise may paper. If it was not for her caring nature I most likely would have not passed the class, but because of the time Mrs. Greene willingly spent to help me I was able to pass with the highest grade in my class and I became a better writer in the process. Not only did Mrs. Greene kindly help me about class material, but she helped me with the struggles I was going through in life. When I first found out my Granny had stage six Alzheimer’s she talked to me multiple times giving me encouraging words and advice on how to stay positive. I am grateful that I got to be one of many students she devoting herself to helping. My best friend in life is a firefighter in the U.S. Airforce named Christian Michael Miller. Though in our society abortion is both common and accepted my mother knew from the start she wanted to keep me. When I was born we had no place to stay so we lived with my grandparents. My mom started working two jobs trying to save up for our own place, a home for just me and her. She rented out an apartment complex one time, but we only stayed there for a few months because she could not afford to pay bills anymore. Even so, she never gave up on trying to provide a better life for me. Eventually she got a good job with the local hospital and was able to buy us an actual house. It was a wonderful house; I felt it was a ‘fancy’ house because it even had a sun room. I was able to have my own room that I could decorate however I wanted it as long as we could afford the decorations I wanted. My mom worked really hard to get me whatever I wanted. I knew that sometimes I could not get everything I wanted, and though I wished I could I did not complain because I knew my mom was working really hard. In everything my mother did she thought of me first, even when dating she did not want a man who did not want or love me. Finally, she meet a man at church one day who loved both her and me. When I was older my mother always attended my school events to show her support for me, and even to this day she still supports me. My mother is my superhero and benevolence

Nowadays, Benevolence is not a word used often, or maybe even at all. But there are still examples of what it means to be benevolent every day around us through different people and acts of kindness every day. And yes, even if most people can not spell it, it is still very important to use on a daily basis. However, even if one is benevolent that does not mean it is okay to act in a ‘better than thou’ or in any way all high and mighty in any way. Acting in such a manner is the complete opposite of what benevolence stands for.…

Every Life Matters I really only started understanding the meaning of abortion once one of my mom’s friends had one. Before that I had very little knowledge about abortion. My parents have always taught me to stand by what I believe and that others may have different beliefs. They always told me that I would meet people that would disagree with me and what I believe not only when it came to these kind of topics but many other things as well. Being told that, they told me to always respect people’s beliefs and their points of view because everyone has the right to stand by what they believe, just like I do.…

The What Do You Think Paper I thought for a very long period of time about what my topic for this essay should be. I knew for a fact that I wanted it to something that I am passionate about and I realized that the number one issue in politics today that I am most eager to fight for is women’s rights. Women earned the right to obtain the same rights of men on August 18th, 1920. However, even after 95 years, women are still fighting for their rights and equal space in politics and society, especially for the right to have an abortion. Abortion is defined as “ the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy.”…

As a doctor, I see an enormous amount of teen and unwanted pregnancies. I also see mothers decide to have a baby with the intentions to raise and take care of the child, but sadly, not all mothers are mature enough to raise a baby, and eventually let another family member take the child. In todays world, women who are considering an abortion are forced to decide in just 24 weeks, and some politicians want to shorten that time or even abolish abortion fully. On the other, there are some people who are “pro-choice” meaning the believe the mother has the choice to abort the baby up to 24 weeks. I know of one case that is personal to me.…

“There are 125,000 abortions per day in the United States, which is equivalent to 45,625,000 per year” (worldometers 1). Abortion impacts mothers greatly; it can take away the maternal instincts of a mother who has children in the future. A mother becomes desensitized to the meaning of life and the fragility of the well being of others after the abortion. Abortion takes a toll on many different things in life; not only does it take a toll on the mother, it takes a large toll on the mother’s family and friends. Many people believe that mothers’ should have a choice when it comes to abortion; however, abortion has shown to have long term effects on society, take a physical toll on women’s health, and often lack effectivity.…

The purpose of the questionnaire is to find which of the 24 character traits are your strengths. The survey is 240 questions long and is comprised of a series of statements, most of these statements ask how much you think the statement sounds like you, but several of them ask how other people see you. After taking the test, it listed several of my strongest character traits, the top 3 traits being perspective wisdom, self-control and self-regulation, and love of learning.
