It is disgusting to hear how he used his power to lure young women into unsafe situations. It makes me sad to know that so many women have suffered in silence and forced me to think about how the average woman suffers in silence on a daily basis. I certainly know that I have. I find it frustrating to think about what a large problem this is and powerless to do much to help. I think all I can really do to help combat the problem is support others and speak out about my own personal experiences. It is disheartening to hear about this in the news, but I am proud of the women who are brave enough to speak out. It makes me think about the recent #metoo movement and how it can be empowering to be honest about your experiences. It is difficult to speak up about sexual harassment, assault, and rape, but I think it is extremely important to do so. I was proud when my own mother and several of my friends partook in the #metoo movement. I aspire to one day be brave enough to do the same. I hope that women continue to use their voices to speak out about their experiences and I will continue to try my best to advocate for change. Reading and hearing about this in the news has been heartbreaking, but I hope it is eye opening for some. I hope that change will

She fails to meet the victims of the case, but still makes negative statements about them (i.e. the cases of Kaitlynn Kelly, Kelsey Belnap, and Allison Huguet); it is in the job description for an attorney to speak to both parties of the case to corroborate facts. Most people would think that attorneys would seek the truth and justice, but in the justice system of Missoula, many of these cases’ attorneys skew the data in order to invalidate the victims’ claims. In essence, these attorneys are keeping potential rapists on the streets without legal repercussions, and the victim helpless and without restitution for what they’ve been through. In aligning themselves with the larger community centered around its football team, attorneys representing the accused find they will win cases from the bias within the…

It’s not something we can just sweep under the rug. This wasn’t just locker-room banter. This was a powerful individual speaking freely and openly about sexually predatory behavior, and actually bragging about kissing and groping women, using language so obscene that many of us were worried about our children hearing it when we turn on the TV. And I have to tell you that I listen to all of this and I feel it so personally, and I’m sure that many of you do too, particularly the women. The shameful comments about our bodies.…

Most of his victims had alzheimer's, which is a disease that affects your memory, but they had begun showing signs of anxiety when it came time to ride in the van. He explained that he would wait until he was alone in the van with each victim and then molest her. However, he pleaded not guilty on 10 counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 60. The driver was released but has to wear a gps device, continue counseling at a veterans hospital and stay away from the company that he was driving for.…

Chris Crutcher’s Whale Talk tackles a lot of important issues and topics facing teens and young adults. One of those is abuse. He tells about how different characters deal with and overcome their abuse through theme, tone, and modern connections. It is important to know that not everyone deals with abuse the same way, and that not everyone has someone to help them deal with their issues. Two characters in Whale Talk have been abused and they dealt with it in very different ways.…

Politically we live in a quite polarizing time. Between the two viable presidential candidates and an equal amount of dissatisfaction of those candidates on both sides, the fate of this country is seemingly up in the air. Though the election holds a discernable amount of media coverage and attention of the public every term the media coverage of this particular election has been dominated by the hateful rhetoric and call to violence of a particular candidate. The candidate calling for this violence is Donald Trump, he on multiple occasions has called for violence against protesters telling his audience how he would like to see them “punched or maimed”. Encouraging his supporters to do so by promising to cover their legal fees if they get arrested…

Fortunately, I am not someone who felt I needed to tweet or post #MeToo. Although I would be lying if I said I had never been in situations (yes, more than once) where a boy's words or actions could have easily turned into sexual assault. I am lucky that I don't have a personal story to share, but I know people that have been sexually assaulted and harassed that hash-tagged their story and I know others that have been sexually assaulted and harassed that did not. For those of you who don't know, #MeToo was made popular by actress Alyssa Milano on October 15.…

In America alone, a woman gets raped every 2 minutes, that 's 30 women every hour, and 720 women in a day. Thousands of perpetrators get away with rape and in my opinion, this is because of cases such as Brock Turner 's who had his punishment dropped from 14 years to just six months which has now turned to three because of "good behavior". It is also because of judges like Judge Aaron Persky who let criminals get away with rape because of things such as being successful and a social status. Just because someone who is successful, privileged, and young, committed a crime they regret doesn 't mean that their punishment should be light. The victim stated in the letter that she feels that if she wouldn 't have gone, nothing would have happened but that then she realizes it would have happened, just to someone else.…

Of course Alyssa Milano received an insane amount of support for this tweet, but she also received a lot of criticism. One point of view I found interesting was that some women were not posting “Me Too” because they didn't want the good men in their life to be victimized. The only reason I don't agree with this is because the “Me Too” movement is about bring awareness to sexual harassment and realizing how big of an effect it can have on both women and…
