From the conversation, the way he carried himself and his personality outshines from what I thought based on his appearance. There were hobbies that I could tell were his favorite, based on how he smiled whenever he was talking about them. He told me of his goals and just how he was talking about his goals made me believe that nothing will stop him from achieving his goals. However, Zack Mikat, my first friend I made at Davidson County Community College. Personality is the essential character of a person. We build friendships based on someone’s personality, everyone is different, but that is what makes everyone unique. People may have similar personalities, but it’s very unlikely they are the same in every way. That is how Zack is, he is unique. The different fall sports had been presented, and as far as I knew, I had no plans whatsoever of participating in any sports—well, except for soccer which was a winter sport. As everyone dispersed to the different sections in the pavilion where each coach of the fall sports stood, I found myself sitting with others whose decision was like mine—not to play a sport. That changed when I heard one of my current best friends, Corinne, rushing down the bleacher stairs and begging me to go with her to the cross country meeting. I thought to myself, “hah, running long distance? yeah right,”…

There is nothing I enjoy more than waking up on a cool saturday morning in preparation for a cross country meet. Sports have always been a big part of my daily life, but I never imagined that cross country would have such an immense impact on my way of living.
