Personal Essay: Boredom In Canada

Boredom again, nothing but boredom. All day long after breakfast we haven’t stopped or do anything. Minnesota is a real boring state, if you think about it. Almost as bad as Nebraska. At least there is some cities and a big lake to drive by. In Nebraska there is nothing but wheat fields flat as a doornail. We have been driving for over ten hours already, and it will still be tomorrow when we cross the Canadian border. What this is all about is the time I made a quick think decision, and almost regretted it. For the weeks in advance to my Canadian trip, I was thinking about it and only it. It would be my first time out of the country, and the only people who I would be doing it with is my brother, Brian, and my grandparents, Jack, and Lana. They used it as a work camp, forcing them to cut trees, build a railroad, and other random projects to keep them busy. A few of the Nazis tried to escape to the other end of the lake, but they did not get far. Some of them succeeded, but others went down in a storm. One of the chief reasons for us knowing that they sunk in the lake, was that a few years ago, during a big storm, a old hollowed out canoe, and they now have it on display. We had cabin 4, out of about 10 cabins and a lodge. The lodge was the only place with civilized area, with tv, internet, and a store as bare as the Arctic. All they have is a small vending machine, and some clothes racks that hold sweatshirts and other memorabilia. The main point of our vacation was to go fishing, so we had brought our grandparents boat. We were fishing most of the day. There was early morning fishing, then we came in for breakfast. Then there was late morning fishing, which went from after breakfast, to after lunch. Then we would stay most days until about 2-3 hours before supper, then come back for
