I would like to explain how I demonstrate, service, character and scholarship. For service, I participate in a number of volunteer roles. Two activities that are close to my heart are, Ivy Hill Equestrian Center and fund raising for the Christopher Court Foundation. I enjoyed my two years volunteering at Ivy Hill.…
In the past four years I have participated in the State College Area High School Renaissance Faire. At this time I have 2 different leadership positions one involves teaching a group of students to sword fight and the other leadership position involves advertising the club to the school. As a part of this club I have learned to speak in front of other people. Since my Sophomore year I have participated in the chamber orchestra group at my high school. This group if for the advanced orchestra students.…

I would first like to start off by expressing how honored I am for being recognized by your organization, as well as overjoyed to have received an invitation to apply for the Johnnie Ruth Clarke Scholarship. I am a focused young man, with a spirit of perseverance, and despite having adversities within my young life, they have not harmed my character, nor the goals that I have on the road towards my future success. I am looking forward with an optimistic mind that I will be so fortunate as to receive this scholarship, it will stand to be a major impact on my journey towards pursuing an active and productive role within society, as well as being a positive role model within my culture. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a fascination within the field of law and justice, I joined the Criminal Justice Academy’s magnet program located at Pinellas Park High School and…
Even when I have a few bumps in the road, I continue to display that I am an active student who incorporates scholarship, leadership, character, and service into my busy schedule. After school, I participate in several activities. For example, a friend of mine…
In addition, I am diligent in my participation in social activities. I am involved in many honors societies and clubs that prioritize social involvement and enthusiasm to the field it focuses on such as National Honors Society, Drama Club/ Thespian Honors Society, National Dance Honors Society and Tri M Music Honors Society. Conjointly, I have held leadership positions and acted in further volunteer settings with these groups such as Secretary for National Dance Honors Society (2014-2015), President for National Dance Honors Society (2015-2016), Social Chair for Drama Club (2014-2015) and volunteer Hawkfest (school spring festival) performer for Drama Club (2014). This shows that I’ve gone beyond the traditional classroom setting in order to participate socially and to challenge myself academically and in extracurricular activities with leadership positions. Finally, as someone who hopes to study international business and Mandarin Chinese, I notably apply myself to global…
One example of this is my involvement with the musical this year. Playing in the pit band was an incredible experience that I look forward to doing again next year. This experience allowed me to connect with the other members of my section as well as being able to speak with others, such as orchestra members, that I never would have had the chance to know if I had not joined pit. Another activity I started doing was the tutoring of an Oneida elementary band student. I am giving her some extra help on the trumpet with reading music, learning rhythms, and helping her gain a better technique with her playing.…
Throughout high school, I have been involved in many activities. I started off with the STEM academy in my high school. In the STEM academy, we held special events that teach people, especially kids, about new experiments and science-related careers. I helped out the STEM academy by explaining people about the experiments, the purpose behind the experiments and cleaned or organized lab equipment. I was a part of the STEM academy for approximately three years in high school and I really enjoyed it because I knew I could make a difference in my community.…
I always participate in school activities because I’m aware that it helps the school. I participate in my after school activities as well. I help my community by forming part of organizations such as the Huntington Youth Court. As a member of this organization I form part of a team of lawyers that are all in high school. Our job is to either be the defense attorney for teenagers who commit minor crimes on Long Island or be prosecuting attorney which looks to punish the teen for the crime they have committed.…
Personal statement- medicine Compassion lies at the heart of medicine. In the midst of the A&E ward, my time in hospital revealed the healthcare team’s professionalism as they worked together efficiently during ward rounds. It left me inspired. Following this, medicine has appealed to me becoming a route to better the health of others. The opportunity to provide care and to use medical knowledge for patient benefit compels me to become a doctor.…
I also love volunteering within the community. Every year I help with a walk that supports kids with Angelman Syndrome. I also help clean up the Quittapahilla Creek when bad storms hit the town, and I coach youth basketball and field hockey. I have always had a passion for school and I am very involved. I played both varsity field hockey and varsity basketball since my freshman year.…
Why do you want to be president of WMGA? I am a great choice for one of the co-presidents of Global Ambassadors because I have ideas for this club that will enhance its ability to connect students across cultural and language barriers and the perseverance necessary to implement those ideas. I and all other members joined this club because we are passionate about helping students from diverse backgrounds feel welcome and find their way in this world. The best way to do this includes having a president who is genuinely devoted to selflessly giving back to the community. My personal goal is to actively help others and make this world a better place.…
Ambassadors is a comedy-drama show, produced by the BBC2, that offers an insight into the workings of the British embassy in the fictional country of Tazbekistan. Although fictional, Tazbekistan comes very close to the existing Central Asian countries. It’s drowning in corruption, human rights abuses, gender inequality, drugs, it relies on foreign investors, and its politics are tightly related to patronage networks built around the president, who, similarly to Kazahstan’s Nursultan Nazarbayev and Turkmenistan’s Saparmurat Niyazov, has ruled for 20 years. The three episodes follow the lives of the British embassy employees, mostly those of Keith Davis (David Mitchell) – the British ambassador, and Neil Tilly (Robert Webb) - the Deputy Head…
While on a tour I learned that during the school year there were always activities going on outside the buildings. I’m very involved in my high school and community. I have taken on leadership positions in a lot of my clubs to expand the student involvement. On top of involvement in my student community, I am also involved in my town’s communities. I have given speeches to politicians on behalf of my town and volunteered at places like my local nursing home.…
I always embraced the opportunity involve myself in co-curricular events as it provides me with an opportunity to engage with students outside of a classroom teacher, and involve myself with their lives outside of the usual teacher/student setting. By understanding a student outside of the classroom, I feel that I can better understand them and can create quality teaching and learning experiences from this. Reflection on my teaching is vital to my development. My Professional Development Plan has been invaluable to my ability to improve my teaching, and I have always received positive feedback from my supervisors. I have also taken the opportunity to mentor pre-service teachers to reflect on my teaching and learning.…
