Personal Essay About Perseverance: A Soldier's Success

¨Perseverance is the secret of all triumphs¨-Victor Hugo, this quote explains what my story is really about how I persevered through one of the most nerve racking games I have ever played in in my life. This game meant so much to me because I had to make my family proud, there was 100+ college and pro scouts there, and I had to pick up the win for my team. This was one of the best times in my life to test what I have been working for my whole life and to test my perseverance towards the game of baseball. The game of baseball is 60% failure, so there is a good chance you're going to have a bad game but I knew I could not let this game be a failure, this game went towards everything I have been working for my whole life.
I don't really know what it means to you to make your family proud, but to me it pretty much everything to me to see my parents smile and tell me they're proud of me. Most people say do it for you and you only, well I do

Finally i threw the first pitch and the kid just stood there and watched the first pitch go right down the middle and you could hear a ¨pop¨ from it hitting that light brown catchers mitt, ¨Strike one,¨ which was a confidence gainer. Then the crowd took a huge breath in, and I turn around and the big radar gun on the scoreboard said ¨89¨ even i shook my head in disbelief about how hard that first pitch was. My first 4 innings were scoreless, the 5th inning I gave up one run and we ended up winning 4-1,most of this game was more mentally tough to get over than the physical part. That's why baseball is so tough because it is more mental than physical most of the

    Perseverance In The Giver

Perseverance is essential for success in this world. This is what I think the authors of the two books I read were trying to tell the readers in their stories, ‘The Giver’ by Lois Lowry and ‘Legend’ by Marie Lu. In these stories the characters, Day and Jonas, however very different, are, like many things much more similar than you think. Jonas rebels against the ‘government’ in the community. He wants everyone to have memories and see color.…

During my time in the Army, I have had plenty of obstacles, one in particular would be when I was a RTO (radio tech operator) and we were attached to another battalion to go raid a village. We patrolled all night until we walked twelve miles to our location avoiding helicopters flying in the sky looking for us. Once we finally set up an OP (observation post) we had a team go out and recon the village and we established a plan on how we were going to attack the village. My squad only had about nine of us, so we were not initially part of the main element to go in and assault the village. However, as we started creeping up to the first obstacle, a fence, helicopters started patrolling for us again.…

It was the bottom of the sixth and we were one out away from winning the World Series, he flashed me a two which meant curveball. I checked the runner, got my grip on the ball, and checked the runner again. I lifted my leg and let go of the ball. We were the last game of the tournament, it was August 1st and the daylight was just starting to slip behind the Rocky Mountains in center field.…

One example of this is when I tried out for the tennis team. At first, I was rejected. I was disappointed, but I knew that if I practiced as much as I could over the summer, I would be able to get on the team by the time the second tryouts came around. So, I practiced as hard and as frequently as I could, and sure enough, I got on the team. If I had given up when I had first hit a setback, I wouldn’t be playing tennis with all my teammates right now.…

It was springtime during the year of 2012, I was just about to start my summer. I was looking on the internet for sports to do in Kaneland, because I wanted to compete at a higher level. But I was not always comfortable with playing on a travel baseball team, but I knew this could be a great opportunity for me, so I took a risk and after all it, payed off. I asked “Dad would you think I would be able to compete and play on the travel baseball team” He smiled “Yes, but one thing I learned when I was young and playing baseball is; it is a game of mistakes, and the only way you can succeed is if you practice over and over to improve.”…
