Personal Essay About My Cultural Identity

Have you ever been in a group of people having a conversation? Of course, so you know how it feels when you want to state your opinion and no one acknowledges you. You feel invisible. That’s exactly how your cultural identity is, it is hidden and invisible. The human mind is so rehearsed that your day to day life is now nature. The things you do that you think are just how you do it, is actually your culture. I would like to tell you about my culture and how it is my nature. Cultural identity, It is basically what makes us-us. How you were raised, your traits, your moral views and ethnicity all play a significant factor in your cultural makeup. My family and I every thanksgiving have a tradition, Butter pecan cheesecake. It is my mother’s favorite dish and now a part of my culture that I will most likely pass down to my children. Most of the people who say that assume it because of what we look like. But my family, although we do, a lot, has a unique culture of our own and It’s very similar to most other peoples. Football is a huge part of my family. But, Sports, in general, are what we’re taught to strive for. My cultural inheritance is sports and to be good at them and play them. Football is one of my favorite sports. My mom has encouraged to keep playing but also to do other sports. Skateboarding, baseball, and tons of other sports are all a part of my life. “Dinger” is a part of baseball terminology and it means to hit a homerun, or have a big hit. When someone says that was “clean” it usually means that the trick was landed well and smoothly. Most of the terminology in sports is a part of the culture and that culture alone. It keeps sports culture alive and unique. Therefore, it keeps my culture
