My dad, born in Libya, was a part of the army in Chad. This is when his world changed, he was approached by the United States and received an offer to become a naturalized citizen, in exchange for information about Muammar Gaddafi. All of this was a steep price to pay with no promise of success, only hope. He was placed in an airport only knowing a minuscule amount of English, received some compensation, but most importantly, granted the insurance of being an American citizen. Witnessing my father overcome language barriers, and adapting to a drastically different type of society has made me more acceptant and intrigued into the lives of those who have immigrated from a very young age. This became the first spark to the fire building and manifesting inside of me yearning to help and guide individuals to their own personal
