Chasing Optimism in the Face of Challenges When someone dear to me dies, I feel like a piece of my fragile heart breaks off. Whether they are a relative, a friend or a beloved pet, all of my love pours out of my soft heart for them. My family had an amazing dog named Pez. We named her after the sweet pez candy that was rather popular for a short period of time. Pez was a tiny Yorkshire Terrier weighing only three pounds making her tender heart too small for her slim body. She was perfect! Pez was a friendly pet, a loyal friend, and an understanding yet fun “sister.” For, I wanted a little sister for a long time so that I would have someone to teach things to, play with, carry around, and laugh with. I considered pez my little sister making it harder for myself when she was gone. She never barked like the average dog, Pez almost never had accidents around the house, and she had the most sympathetic look in her beady black eyes …show more content…
For we all have someone who we love, traumatically die before our eyes. The loss of my “little sister” has taught me sympathy for others. I understand what it is like when someone who one loves dies. I can use the experience to help others who lose loved ones to the evil grasp of death. Even though it is not beneficial to me, my loss can indirectly be beneficial to someone else who needs comfort and understanding. Pez’s death was heartbreaking for me, yet, it taught me to cherish every moment of life. I never know what is going to happen in my life next, therefore I need to live life to the fullest taking every opportunity that comes my way. Robert Breault once said, “Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” If someone lives life in fear and worry they will miss out on opportunities to do something great. When life brings one down, help them back up and remind them to live life to the fullest and cherish every moment of
