A Trip That I Will Never Forget
My mom was born and raised in a village in the suburbs of Casablanca, the biggest city of Morocco. As a girl, in a small town, she was overwhelmed with what she heard about the luxurious life in a big city that is lively and bustling. When my mom got married, her dream came true, and she moved to Casablanca. After couple of years, the whole family moved to the city and left the dull life of the suburbs. Only my aunt stayed because she preferred the life in the house she had grown up in. Whenever my mom was telling me of her childhood home, I had a feeling that she missed her life there. I wandered why she was missing this boring life. I had never visited her birth place but wanted to do that, so I made plans to convince my mom to take me to visit my aunt and her town during my spring vacation. I wanted to prove to myself that she was wrong in preferring the dull countryside life over the lively city. That is how I ended up going on a trip that I will never forget.
I couldn't believe it when my mom said, "I know you want it. For couple of days you have been begging me to take you to my town for the spring break, and I will." I didn’t expect it to be that easy. It was just a day before my spring break started, and I began packing up immediately. Our trip started early the next morning.
