This is not the first time I caught another's passion. I had caught it before in AP Environmental Science. Notoriously the easiest AP class, it was by far the most interesting class I have ever been in. My teacher, Ms. Hunter, spoke with fire about the horrors of the great pacific garbage patch, condemned the destructive practices of industrial farming, and discussed in awe the advancements of alternative energy. I run Cross Country, and in every meet I run as hard as I can for 3.1 miles. It is horrible. Everything burns, and the fastest people are like olympians compared to the rest of us. To top it off, the minute I stop, the contents of my stomach come out my mouth. And yet I love every race. I love the weight in my legs, the ragged breath and fight for a place at the end. It is all so important to me. And now it is important to a freshman named Kyle. I have described to him the aches of a race, and how proud I feel after enduring so much agony.
