I was the only child of my parents, William and Helen Lester. We lived in New York City for as long as I can remember. My mother loved the city and we’d spend every sunday in Central Park. Father would join us when he could. He was a well to do businessman who enjoyed working and staying busy. While he was around, I don 't ever remember money being a problem.

I had moved back to the New York apartment when I found out my dad had bought it and left it in my name. He had done so before he left that way mother and I would never have to worry about paying rent, just some bills here and there. I was pretty happy with my life by the time I was 25. I had married a childhood friend named Robert (yes your grandpa) and was expecting my first child all while living in my real home. Although my support system was small, I got by with a little help from my friends. Life couldn 't be better honesty. I could now vote and have started doing crosswords in my spare time! My Robert takes sundays off from work as a policeman and we go on picnics in central park just like I use to love. Afterwards Robert will treat himself to a baseball game or a boxing match, while I usually head home, read for a bit and then start on dinner. We lived a simple yet happy life. Then the Depression
