Personal Essay: A Career As An Art Director

Art director who always influences a piece of advertisement’s success or failure is one of most important position in the advertising field. There are a lot of different positions in creative team in the advertising field. From my perspective, the most important one is the art director. Art director charges advertisement’s overall design that what information it should convey and how to convey. If character in the advertisement is like human’s sound, the part of art is like appearance and body language. Creating a piece of advertisement which is powerful is not easy, so art director must include professional experience and has judgment of graphic design and the technical knowledge of production. As technique aspect, art director has to get some fundamental skills such as software, typography, or design because it seems the most work has been worked on the computer in this technology world. Therefore, I think a successful idea is always from the sketches, so that, art director should have a great drawing skill in my point. In the fine art part, I think it makes me have a high artistic percipient level and great drawing skill. As these skills, I can create a whole idea with a short time, and it includes full visual effect such as artistic style, color, and elements. Therefore, I think my graphic design experience makes me that I can finish my idea on the computer quickly and expertly, and it seems building a bridge between itself and advertising because I think it helped me passing to advertising filed from the graphic design.
