I realized at the end of the year though, that I couldn’t continue to just do that. I had to try harder to make sure that I turn in all of my homework and actually learn the material so that I can know it for longer than the test. I have to be able to try in more than just my college level and AP classes. And I’ve been doing that this year. I have an A in AP Statistics, which hasn’t happened for me in a math class since middle school. I’m doing all of my homework and staying on top of it so that I don’t have missing

I think that you are correct in the fact that a lot of organizations do have a diversity mission statement to help in fulfilling the legality of policies and procedures. It is sad that often times as women, we do still see not many changes in the way things are handled, like your situation. I think we as American have tried to take a step in the right direction, but I feel like the media in some aspect hinders the perspective of individual to not fully take a step forward without eventually having us take a step back, not just as it relates to women, but all diversity. Our textbook tells us all people should be treated with respect and dignity, and that in our dealing with people we must have an eyes-level approach (Manning & Curtis, 2008).…

During our lives, we are always taught that diversity is important. However, often we are never taught what diversity is and why it is important. I guess it could be that by the time I die, I would want to hope that there has been some better change in regards to rights and equality for people with disabilities and that the population is portrayed in a better limelight around the world. While I know that the idea of full equality by the entire human race will never happen, I just hope that my fellow citizens start treating their fellow human beings with disabilities better and that Hollywood and TV stations start showing them as a positive impact on society and not a negative.
