Personal Differences Between College Vs. High School

Although one might think that college is simply one step over high school, there are several personals differences between the two and one must be prepared for what is ahead. The main difference between high school and college is the responsibility factors. In college, nothing is given to you. You basically make your own decisions. You pick your own classes. You have to wake yourself up for class. The teachers are different. They do not make you come to class nor do they let you slide with you work, and nothing is free in college. You pay for your classes, your books, and even your lunch. Every single supply you need, you most likely will have to pay for in college. You most likely bought paper, pencils, and other things of that nature. But, you do not buy your books. In college, you buy your own books. Even if the book is $80, you still have to buy it. You go to the bookstore and you will have to purchase all the books you will need. You know the scantron that you take test with in high school? Unlike high school, when you have to take a test in college, you will have to go purchase a scantron from the bookstore. Your counselor helped you and advised you with what classes to take in high school. In college, it is your choice to pick the classes you need. You have to schedule a meeting with your academic advisor if you need help picking your classes in college and it is your responsibility to make sure you get the classes you …show more content…
My mom woke me up every morning for school when I was in high school. She always told me to keep my room clean, but in college, if you live in a dorm, you have room checks. If your room is not clean, you can get fined for it. In college, you are an adult, and they expect you to act like one. The teachers expect you to except the consequences if you do not do the required work. If your grade point average is below the college requirement, you will even get kicked out the college. In high school the teacher would call your parent or send you to the counselor and let them know that you are not doing what you are supposed to. It is your choice in college to succeed.
