Personal Coat Of Arms Essay

My personal coat of arms represents and showcases my personal identity, social identity as well as my national identity. The images I drew all have a distinct message behind them. In the shield I drew an Indian flag and the Canadian flag which represents national identity because my nationality is both Indian and Canadian. I was born and raised in Canada but both my mom and dads ancestory comes from India. These flags showcase who I am and where I’m from which is a key aspect in making up my personal identity. Ontop of the shield is a Khanda which is a Sikh symbol and is used as a military emblem for Sikhs. The Khanda expresses who I am and acts as a religious symbol which has an enormous amount of meaning to me. I chose this because I am a humongous supporter of internationalism I showed this through a brown and black arm reaching towards the globe which represented people from all different nations becoming one regardless of their race,sex,origin etc. Multiculturalism in my opinion is a beautiful thing and I wanted to represent this by drawing it in my personal coat of arms. The reason behind drawing a volleyball was because it represented my social identity, ever since I was little I played on many volleyball teams it gave me a sense of belonging and was an important source of self-esteem and pride.
