Personal Argumentative Essay On Marva Parker

Improved Essays
She attended school at Penn Valley and upon graduation she wanted to be an airline stewardess. Going through the training process Marva Parker realized it wasn’t for her and decided to quit. Her mother wasn’t having it and told her she needed to get a job. Filling out her application to work at the BFC was only to appease her mom for the time being - only to be hired the day after she dropped off her application with a start date the very next week.

Throughout her 44 year tenure - she has only held a couple positions and her current position – Material Analyst, 3, for 35 years and she loves every minute of it.

Every part that goes through the campus from every department, her department sees and touches it…not matter what it is.

With Marva being the only female in her department she may do some screaming and yelling, but at the end of the day they have a great department and know they can depend on her.

“We work together great. Yes, we get into it and argue, but I know they respect me and value what I do. I am one of the guys,” says Marva. “I’m never afraid to get in and get my hands dirty.”

She never thought leaving the BFC would be an option. While at Bannister there were times when her team would need to meet a deadline and would be at the facility until midnight. With the move to the KC NSC has allowed for new technology (i.e. a box maker and shrink wrap machine) and efficiency to the department.

Being aware of schedules, working closely with other departments and getting their product in a timely manner…Marva and her team have never missed ship date on the fault of them.

At the end of the month there are over 30 lines and 22 pages of ship items, and knowing they all went out on time is an achievement. Until the very next month when they have to worry about it all over

The nineteen-century was an era of inequality against both women, and African-Americans. Slavery was still occurring in the South in this era, and there were many who believed that providing an education to an African-American was an egregious act that had to be punished by imprisonment (Douglass,pg.36). Women were also treated as lesser then their Caucasian counterparts, and in many cases were seen as part of their husband and not as individuals (Hagler, pg.406). The mid to late 1800’s was a time of change, many in the north were already against slavery, but the mind of many in the south still had not change, but the actions of people, such as Margaret Douglass was the catalyst that was needed in order to break the boundary’s, and allow change to come. Through examining Margaret Douglass trial and D. Harland Hagler article, “The Ideal Woman in the Antebellum South: Lady or Farm Wife?”, it becomes apparent how women were seen as an extension of their husband, and not as individuals who deserved the same respect and equality.…

Many people and companies are adopting a new way of dealing with inventory and production planning by using a process called just-in-time or JIT production. To get into it a bit and explain exactly what just-in-time means is to keep or have just enough inventory, whether it be finished products or raw materials, on hand and available to comply with how much demand you have for your production process and also the demands of the final customer. Its not to have anything more than that, or anything less. When your products are prepared and ready to go just in time, they don 't get a chance to just sit in your warehouse for no reason and take up space. Its also a benefit because that means that there is no cost to your company for holding onto…
