Merrill Lynch: A Career

Superior Essays
On June 8th, 2015, I started my job at Merrill Lynch. When working men and women think about their career, they would think that two and a half years is just a hiccup. To me though, it has been my entire working career. A career, it is hard to think that I already have a career at 21 years old. I truly believe that Merrill Lynch will be my home for a very long time. I work with very successful people on a daily basis at Merrill Lynch. I have been able to perform well enough over the past two and a half years to gain their trust. My team members trust me to transfer hundreds of thousands of dollars for multi-million dollar clients. The fulltime Client Associates on the team are ranked #34 in the firm among all Client Associates. From a company perspective, if I was fulltime, I would be considered in that ranking. I get reminded daily from my team members that “I am considered in the ranking”. Being ranked #34 out of over 6,000 Client Associates, means that I am among the top 1% of Client Associates in the firm. I have been able to achieve this with my team members over the past two and a half years. I have worked very hard and I am very fortunate that I have achieved so much at a young

My previous work experience has exposed me to a variety of team dynamics and I would describe my exposure as very positive. My love for connecting with people has been a major factor in my overall employment success, such as, two management roles before reaching my twenty’s and also a fulfilling career in the financial industry for nine years. Working in a customer service role for the last 14 years I have faced struggles with communication, as well as developed positive skills to work effectively with others. One of the most essential elements I have learned from working as a Financial Advisor is how to build trust with people. I firmly believe this is key to any successful relationship, rather an employment relationship or otherwise.…

The accounting department basically keeps the company running. Without the accounting department bills would not get paid or bills would not get mailed out for the customers to pay. At Multi-Color there are four main accountants: Accounts Payable (Melissa Campbell), Accounts Receivable (Tiffany Lowe), Cost Accountant (Jeremy Hafer), and Accounting Coordinator (Shari Schmidt). Some of the tasks we decided would be good for me to do at the beginning of my internship would be to learn the AP Process, AR Process, Job Cost Process, and lastly learn how to close jobs. Teaching an electrical engineering honors class as an undergraduate greatly improves my communication and presentation skills, and during the period I revise the course materials and have doubled the class size within a year. Besides learning from numeral internship experiences, as an intern, I have created great values for the companies at the same time.
