Louisa May Alcott once said, “I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship.” Persevere the Merriam Webster's Dictionary defines persevere as “to persist in a state, or undertaking in spite of counterinfluences, opposition, or discouragement.” Common synonyms for persevere include “carry on” or “persist.” Related words include “dig in,” “hang on,” or “follow through.” The word persevere comes from the Latin word perseverus. Many people know of the word ‘persevere’. But not many people know of the meaning or where the word came from. My first literature example is from “Desert Exile.” My second literature example is from “Warriors Don’t Cry.” My third literature example is from my nonfiction book “I Will Plant you a Lilac

The words had a deeper personal meaning.” (15) Hannelore persevered through her father's death by remembering the poem book that he gave her as a birthday present. “We are so close to freedom, and yet it might still go the other way.” (252) She persevered through this by having the hope that she would get out and be with Hillman and start a life with him and he
