Perseverance In College

You are being demoted to JV. It’s something a athlete never wants to hear. To reach the point where you are on the varsity team, and then to feel as if all of that hard work was taken away from you. It’s debilitating. I had to hear these words the spring of my sophomore year, after playing the first quarter of the season on the varsity team. I had taken my role on the team for granted, assuming my place was secure while allowing my level of play to drop. I felt like a failure, but in the end it was a blessing. This experience taught me many life lessons including perseverance and making the most of what is given to you, and in the end made me a better person.
