Theseus decides to face the big ole Minotaur that takes many as his victims from the Athens, this is a half bull half man that would scare off the average person, but not Theseus. Theseus wishes to put a stop to it and decides to give himself up as one of the young sacrifices. When the time came Theseus boldly “. . . came forward and offered to be one of the victims”(Hamilton 212). Theseus faces the wretched beast and kills him with his bare hands, this shows his strength, but most importantly his bravery to face such a monster. Theseus walks into this with lots of courage and determination to defeat the Minotaur. Theseus is said to have a love for danger further proving he is a daring man. It's easy to believe he could walk in the face of danger and come out with a victory. Theseus could have let someone else be chosen as a victim but he chooses to do this because he wasn't afraid to face the Minotaur, he knew it was dangerous and that makes him such a brave hero. This demigod was powerful in a way that he could defeat any creature of earth, he continuously proves his strength fighting off beasts and killing many with just his bare hands. Antaeus was a giant who wrestled people and had never lost a match, many victims had fallen to his strength. Hercules being one of the strongest people on Earth “. . . lifted him up and holding [Antaeus] in the air and strangled him”(Hamilton 234). Many stories are briefly told about Hercules and his great strength, this is one of many that shows his incredible strength. Hercules has to physically hold this giant in the air and strangle him to defeat him. It seems this is a pretty incredible victory for Hercules. He has killed many other creatures similar to this one. He has killed lions with his bare hands and fought and won against some of the most evil of monsters, such as Hydras, Boars, man-eating mares, and many more. It's obvious Hercules uses his strength to be successful and it's his best trait as an epic
