Who’s Marjane Satrapi? In Persepolis The Story Of A Childhood by Marjane Satrapi tells a story of a young girl named Marjane growing up in Tehran, Iran during the Islamic revolution. You see her grow up from a small girl to a grown woman; the author illustrates this story in comic book form. The three main characters are Marjane, her father and mother. In the book she follows in her parent’s footsteps in political protesting, she fights for what she believes and at times it might look like she’s rebellious. Marjane’s father is a political man that takes pictures of the riots in Iran; he mostly cares for his daughter and his wife. Marjane’s mother doesn’t agree with what the government is doing, so she has taken part in the protesting. My favorite character in the book is Marjane’s father because he takes part in the political protesting as well as his wife and he takes risks of getting hurt taking pictures of the dangerous riots. My favorite scene I came across from when reading this book is when all the political prisoners are released and Marjane’s uncle Anoosh comes over to say hi and share his story as to why he went to jail. Anoosh left Iran to go get married, but afterwards they get divorced, Anoosh tries to come back to Iran but they arrest him trying to …show more content…
I really like how she put all the characters together because all of the characters have a purpose. I also like how the author sets the mood for every page like one page would be happy and the next would be sad. I understand everything the author wrote after reading the book. I recommend this book to people who like history because it has lots of information about the Islamic revolution and people who would like a good
