This piece of information is also precise because according to the Iran Chamber Society Editorial Team, they informed people that on September 22, 1980, the Iraqi MIG-23s and MIG-21s were planning to attack the Iranian air forces on the ground, however, since the Iranian jets were protected and strengthened especially strong, the Iraqis failed to achieve their goal. As a result, “Within hours, Iranian F-4 Phantoms took off from the same bases, successfully attacked strategically important targets close to major Iraqi cities” (Iran Chamber Society). This shows that the event “140 Iranian bombers attacked Baghdad today” that Satrapi has included on page 84, panel 2 is accurate. After hearing this report, Marjane immediately changed her mind on how she first thought that her dad was not a patriot. She also realized that the reason why her dad doesn’t believe what she said at the beginning was because she was just a young girl who repeats what other people tells her. This event impacted Marjane because when she noticed that the fighter jets outside the window were not from Iran, she instantly noticed the significance of supporting her own country when she didn’t get the answer she wanted from her dad, she burst out her uncontrollable emotions to argue with him and thought that since her dad doesn’t want to fight in the war, he’s not a hero nor a patriot. The other correct piece of information that Satrapi has stated is that 140 Iranian bombers attacked Baghdad which was proven by the Iran Chamber Society. As a result of this event, Marjane proves herself wrong for misunderstanding her dad and realized that he just wants a more reliable source to get his news updates from instead of listening to a 11 year-old. Another event that Marjane has included in this chapter was that the Iranian losses were very heavy. Although the A+E Network Corporation did prove the accuracy of this piece of information, it’s not only the Iran who lost many armies and resources, it’s the same situation for Iraq. The reason why Satrapi decided to just put the Iran’s losses in this chapter was because she’s in favored of her own country. This event also built on the changes Marjane have on her personality because she now knows how to be concerned
