For our final presentation, Dan Dan and I picked love as the main topic. The main reason why we picked this love as our topic is because love is one of the main thing that we read in the books for this semester and also we find love in our life everyday, so we can also make connection with our life. With the main topic, love, we split it into 3 parts which is the 3 different types of love we found in the readings, which are family love, love between friends and also love between 2 people which is also call lover or couple. And in this presentation the main topic ‘m focusing on is the love between family and lover. With these two topic I made connections with the two readings I’ve like the most in this semester - Persepolis and Antigone. In the book Persepolis and Antigone we can see a lot love between family. However after the death of his beloved wife and son, his tears fall down and regretted for what he had done. And in Persepolis, we can see the bond between marjane and …show more content…
It is also the first step of forming into family. In Persepolis we’ve read about the 3 relationships that marjane had with 3 different people, and the most significant one is the second relationship. During that relationship she changed a lot because of her boyfriend, and when she found out that her boyfriend is cheating at her, she collapsed. In addition, in Antigone, Haemon, who always listen to his father choose to fight back and defend Antigone. the background of this slide is a photo of a crystal church that I took. Similar to Antigone by Sophocles, officer Ervin and Antigone both believed that some of the civil laws their civilizations have are unjust and should be reconsidered. Antigone's love for her brother, Haemon's anger at his father, and Creon’s Pride are all examples of how acting on emotion and not fully thinking about one's actions can cause many negative affects. Antigens love for polyneices causes many problems for not only herself but also for others. “Take this hand of mine to bury the dead…challenge Creon to his face” (195) Although Antigone knows burying her brother is civilly wrong, she still chooses to do it because it's morally right.…

Here, once again, Antigone displays severe disrespect to Creon’s position as king when she explains mockingly that she did not know that “[Creon] had such powers to enable [the powers of the gods]” for is a mortal and will die someday, making out that his declaration will be replaced whereas the gods will be forever. However, her disrespect to Creon is established by her belief that “there is nothing shameful in honoring [her] brother” (559). Here, Antigone illustrates once again that the love and loyalty that she has for her brother Polyneices was her true and honest purpose for being defiant, not to show loyalty to the gods but to follow what the message employed: to cherish and respect family. For Antigone, “if [she] dared to leave the dead man, [her] mother’s son, dead and unburied, that would have been [the] real pain,” not death (510-512). Her desire to free the spirit of her brother so that it can be at peace explains the true reason of her rebellious…
