1.The significance in the setting in Perseplois, tells the reader the mood, attitude, and nature of the story. Physical setting takes place in Iran. Temporal setting is during a culture revolution; “In 1979 a revolution took place. It was later called ‘The Islamic Revolution’.” Social environment takes its role as the people of Iran protest and object the transition taking place in their homeland; “Things started to degenerate. The Army shot at them. And they threw stones at the army.” The setting is important to give the reader little background and understanding about what is taking place, and the importance of the events. In some ways had the story taken place in another time or place things would change and stay the same. Her family is more modern type. They take off their veils in the comfort of their privacy. Satrapi was concerned about her parents who “After marching and throwing stones all day, by evening they had aches all over, even in their heads.” But she also supported what they did.
