Pandora's Box is another story in Greek mythology. The story is from Hesiod’s Works and Days (qtd. Sjsu.edu). Pandora opened the box, which was a large jar, that contained all of the evils and troubles of the world. The lid was closed and only “Hope” remained inside the box, stuck under the lid. Today the phrase "open Pandora's box" means to that an ordinary or small act may see innocent enough but could turn out to have detrimental, harmful, or unpredictable results. Hercules, the son of Zeus, could be considered the first superhero. This boy, named Heracles, would become stronger than any man and any god. Hercules became a great hero in Greece, fulfilling Apollo’s prophecy that he would grow into an immortal and instead of dying as a man, he would become a god. In later years, the legend of Heracles would become famous. The Romans worshipped him as a hero and a mentor, and in their translation, he was called Hercules (A&E Networks History).
