April 12th at a downtown Philadelphia Starbucks, two men were arrested for supposed “loitering” when they were essentially there to have a business meeting that inquired real estate they had been working on for months. The men, Donte Robinson and Rashon Nelson, both 23, that was said had caused the uproar within the coffee shop just so happened to be black. Journalists reported that the men had endured a whole eight hours in jail for an enforcement discretion that was violated. Nelson, had simply asked to use the men’s restroom, the manager was quick to inform him it was for paying customers only. Unfortunately, discrimination and inequality are beginning to become just as big as a problem as it was many years ago. Hatred and prejudices is none-the-less still in existence upon society. It seems as if our societies cultural views have slightly changed for the worse. These two men were going about their everyday life just as any other person would. They both work within real estate and initially needed to meet their potential buyer at a local place that seemed fitting within one another’s schedule. Thus, endured difficulty just to do so. I’m sure past and current employees within this Starbucks have seen white people act out due to their mocha latte is missing their whip cream and yet still receive the normal customer service that the company promises. Yet the colored men that were discriminated upon due to, they appeared as a “threat” sitting patiently for their meeting to begin.
