Permalco Recruiting Process Case Analysis

Decent Essays
Permalco recruiting process isn't the greatest process known to man, but they clearly have the ups and downs when it comes to experience so that will make a big difference in the near future. When completing a swot analysis for Permalco's recruiting the strength that I see within them would be the fact that they can bring in young talent. They are in a small college town where there are numerous of young people willing to work hard. The weakness that I see that they are letting bothering their recruiting process is the inconsistency with staffing. It seems that they aren't giving the leaders they hire a significant amount of time to get the productivity they want. The opportunity I sense from the recruiting process would have to be the youthfulness

Not only did I connect to this quote because the Jets are my favorite NFL team but also due to the relevance of young recruiting especially in the football industry. The younger and younger that colligate football programs are recruiting athletes the more unknowledgeable about the choice they’re making the athlete is. I remember reading an article a few years ago from a local paper in Vermont about a young star from the south who was recruited so young he told his parents which school he wanted to go to because they had a good mascot and cool school colors. Now, this is NOT a good reason to choose an institution and this quote made me think of just that.…

In the movie Moneyball (based on the book Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game by Michael Lewis), Billy Beane attempts to form a competitive baseball team for Oakland Athletics by assembling undervalued talent through a sophisticated approach of Sabermetrics. As demonstrated in the movie, a strong team can be built with empirical analysis of the game, answering objective questions and making data based decisions in athletic recruitment as against prejudice, wisdom and gut instincts. The team registered 20 consecutive wins and the sabermetric model became the future of baseball. Mr.Glen Cathey, who is SVP Talent Strategy KForce, writes about the topic: The Moneyball Approach to Recruitment.…

Maersk’s recruitment process worked but was not totally effective. Outsiders were not brought into the company and trained to know other employees, they were just trained to do the job. I would have another training program where the external employees get to train and work with the internal employees so they can all get to know each other. I would implement different job analysis methods if I were in management. I believe observation is a great method to see how the hire would work to get “a realistic view of the job’s daily tasks and activities” (Society for Human Resource Management, 2013), but I would also add an interview to personally get to know the hire.…

Employers will often undervalue youth labor, viewing their needs as less than those of adults and reducing their income (Despoja 400). Employers think that younger employees seem less experienced and will not work as hard as their older counterparts. Instead of giving young workers “access to appropriate training and livable incomes,” employers either just choose not to hire them or cut their salaries (Despoja 400). Employers think that younger people might not be as serious about their job and will not fully commit to their work like someone with more maturity. Even though they may not be as experienced, younger people can be trained, so choosing not to hire someone because they seem young and ill equipped is an unacceptable excuse.…
