Organic/Natural cosmetic products are not superior to chemical cosmetic products because chemical products can do things organic/natural cosmetic products cannot. Hairdresser Daniel Galvin said, “There is just no way to perm hair without chemicals…”(dailymail.co.uk). In order to perm hair, the hair cuticle must be penetrated and changed. The use of chemicals is the only known way to penetrate and change the cuticle of the hair.There is no organic or natural alternative that will allow for the achievement of the same result. The only other alternative to the standard perm is an ammonia free perm. This alternative may be ammonia free, but it still contains a synthetic chemical. Petrochemicals are chemicals acquired from petroleum or gas. Petroleum is a hydrocarbon that can be refined to create gasoline and kerosene. Only a tiny percentage of the product may contain chemicals, but these petrochemicals are needed to attain the results desired. There are organic/natural ways to lighten hair such as the use of lemons, honey, or the sun. These will lighten hair without the use of chemicals, but it will take a long time to see a noticeable change, and can cause to the hair to be dry and frizzy without achieving the desired result. One thing that almost every girl uses that is full of chemicals is nail polish. Lisa Beres claims ,”While no nail polish is 100% natural, we all deserve to have healthy options – sans the toxins!” (earth911.com). So far, there has yet to be a nail polish created without the use of any chemicals. There are some that will claim to be free of three to five of the most harmful chemicals commonly found in nail polishes, but there is no nail polish in the world that is completely natural and organic.
