Perks Of Being A Wallflower Movie Analysis

I believe the movie of the millennials should be Perks of Being a Wallflower. In this essay I will discuss the all the things that make this movie so memorable like the plot, themes, tones, acting, and characters. Perks of Being a Wallflower is a movie concerning a teenage boy struggling with mental issues, like social anxiety and depression. This movie displays the increasing mental issues with teens in our society. Which is why this movie being so memorable because of how people can relate to these traumatic events. The plot of this movie was about a timid teen named Charlie entering his first year of high school after being absent for mental reasons. He deals with feeling isolated, but slowly begins to feel accepted by two seniors named Sam and Patrick. He starts to fall in love with Sam, however, Sam has a boyfriend. This depresses Sam, everything starts to go downhill with his friends and the traumatic images of being raped by his aunt come back. For example, at the beginning Charlie tended to look lower than everyone, meaning people were above them so they had more power. As the movie progressed Charlie started appearing at the same level as everyone else. Near the end when Charlie blacked out and fought the bullies for Patrick, he had the superior view, he had the power. Later to the end, after the breakdown he was at a low angle once again, as if we were looking down at him once again. He lost himself, he lost his power. Finally, after he went to the mental hospital, got out, and Sam and Patrick came and took him out, he was once again superior. When he rode through the tunnel, standing in the bed of the truck with his arms out, screaming, the camera was lowered and pointing up to him to show he once again had power over
